This test checks your dog for potential allergies by analysing a small blood sample, collected at home using a simple lancet device. The process is quick, minimally invasive, and designed to reduce stress for your pet. The results will help identify whether your dog has food-related or environmental sensitivities.
What the Allergy Test Results Will Tell You
Thousands of animals each year are taken to the vet to investigate the reasons behind persistent itchiness, digestive problems or behavioural issues, which may be linked to allergies. Often, these issues go undetected and untreated for months or even years, causing you and your dog undue stress and worry.
With the Dog Allergy Test, you can discover possible reasons for your dog’s symptoms, whether they are behavioural or biological, and take steps to avoid potential allergens, so your pet is no longer exposed.
When your test has been completed, you will be provided with a report on the reaction of your pet to up 125 of the most common possible allergens. These could be present in food and other substances that your animal is likely to encounter on a regular basis, or in the outside environment.

How the Dog Allergy Test Works
Knowledge is power, as the saying goes, and once you have accurate information on your canine’s potential sensitivities to specific substances, you can act accordingly to ensure they are kept away from them as far as possible. For instance, should the test flag the fact your pet is reacting to a particular dog food ingredient, you can then make sure you check their food does not contain that substance in the future.
Using our services is simplicity itself. You will be sent a kit with step-by-step instructions for collecting a suitable sample from your dog to send back to us for testing.
Use the provided lancet to collect a small drop of blood, ideally after a short walk to improve blood flow (recommended collection sites: inner ear flap or paw pad, avoiding calloused areas). Apply one drop to each of the 5 circles on the collection card. Let the card air-dry for at least 2 hours. Place it in the protective bag and return it using the pre-addressed envelope. We recommend using a tracked service.
Results will show the degree of your dog’s reaction to each allergen, categorised either 0 (no signs of allergy), 1 (low), 2 (moderate) or 3 (high). Please click the button below to view the full panel sample results report.

Will Food and Medication Affect the Results?
The dog being tested should not be eating absolutely anything before the sample is collected, as this could adversely affect the test results. We therefore recommend that the sample be collected in the morning before eating. If this is not possible, we suggest that you wait as long as possible between meals before collecting the sample.
In addition to food, there are also medications, such as antihistamines and steroids, which can affect the dog’s test results. For example, Apoquel, Benadryl, Cytopoint and Prednisone/Prednisolone suppress the immune system and will affect the test results. Therefore, your dog should not take antihistamines, anti-itch and anti-inflammatory drugs or steroid medications for 1-2 weeks before collecting his sample.
Antibiotics such as Clavaseptin do not affect the test results.

How Old Should My Dog Be Before I Test?
While this test can identify sensitivities at any age, a puppy’s physiology changes quickly and the sensitivities they have under 12 months old may completely change as they age. It is recommended that dogs are more than 12 months of age to identify specific allergens that may affect them as they grow older.
